Stainless steel is desirable for its strength and resistance to corrode, rust or stain when exposed to water.  However, it is not fully stain-proof in low-oxygen or high-salinity environments.

There are several common grades of stainless steel that are determined by the end-use of the machined part.  Will it be used in food processing?  Will it need to be non-magnetic?  Will it be welded?  What type of environment will it be in?  Horschel Brothers Precision and our close supplier network can help you determine the proper stainless steel material.

Stainless steels we commonly machine are:

  • 17-4
  • 15-5
  • 303
  • 304
  • 304L
  • 3016
  • 416
